Figma moves code layers into open beta for canvas-based work

Figma says code layers is rolling out in open beta from October 15 on all plans. The feature brings working code onto the Figma canvas from sources including local folders, MCP-connected prototypes, GitHub imports and its Chrome extension. Why it matters: The useful change is a workflow boundary: code and the context that guides an agent can be reviewed where the design work happens. Teams can inspect whether Specs, code layers and the MCP handoff preserve the decisions their coding agent needs; Figma’s announcement does not establish faster delivery or better agent output.
