OpenAI offers Zero Data Retention for frontier models
OpenAI says eligible API customers using its frontier models can use Zero Data Retention, under which it does not retain prompts or model responses after processing a request. The company is also previewing Private Safety Processing, which it says can identify patterns across related interactions without personnel access to the underlying content. Why it matters: Data retention can be a routing condition for sensitive work, but eligibility depends on the provider, product, endpoint, and agreement. The announcement also notes a legal exception for potential CSAM images.
Try this: List the workflows that send sensitive prompts or files, then verify Zero Data Retention coverage for each provider, product, endpoint, and contract before rerouting traffic.
